Conceived as a shared home for the Casper Chamber of Commerce and the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (now Visit Casper), this project included a comprehensive feasibility study. This study included evaluation of potential sites, guided by in-depth research into visitor behavior.

A highly visible site along the interstate - the main artery of regional tourism – and adjacent to the North Platte River was selected. This strategic location provides travelers with convenient access, a restful stop, and a direct connection to the area's natural landscape. The site is arranged with efficiency and convenience in mind. Large vehicle and RV traffic can move through without the need to turn around, while amenities such as designated pet areas further enhance the traveler's stop.

Inside, the building is carefully organized to balance functionality and hospitality. Business offices are separated from public areas, while visitor-focused amenities - including meeting rooms, restrooms, and interpretive displays - are designed to encourage exploration. The design draws inspiration from the western landscape and heritage while embracing a modern sensibility. Regional stone cladding, exposed timber beams, and steel fastenings celebrate local materiality and industry.
